Shrewsbury Town have signed midfielder David McAllister on a one-month loan from Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old Irishman, who previously played for St Patrick's Athletic, has made 10 first-team appearances for the Blades this season.
McAllister hopes his loan spell will benefit his parent club.
"It's a great chance. I want to go back to Sheffield sharper and able to help the side go up to the Championship," he told BBC Radio Shropshire.
But McAllister has not ruled out extending his spell with the League Two promotion chasers.
Shrewsbury manager Graham Turner added: "He's a strong player who can put his foot in and who has a good shot on him.
"He's highly thought of at Sheffield United - they want him to go out on loan to get some games and hope he can go back and have some influence in their challenging for promotion.
"We faced opposition from a number of clubs and we're delighted to have got him."
McAllister, who was spotted by United playing in his native Dublin, signed for the Blades in January 2011 and made his full debut a few days later in an FA Cup tie with Aston Villa.
