Fulham striker Marcello Trotta has confirmed he will not extend his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers, after scoring eight goals in as many games.
The 19-year-old netted a brace in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Preston, a result that leaves the Chairboys four points adrift of League One safety.
But the Italian has returned to Craven Cottage and is expected to target a spell in the Championship.
"I wish the team all the very best for the rest of the season," he said.
"I will be keeping an eye out for their results and I hope to get back to Adams Park soon, this time as a fan to cheer on the team.
"I've had a wonderful time at Wycombe Wanderers and cannot thank the manager enough for giving me an opportunity to play many matches during my loan spell."
Boss Gary Waddock, whose side have lost their last four games, told the club website, external: "Marcello was a model professional during his time with us and I'd like to thank him and [Fulham manager] Martin Jol for allowing him to spend the last two months here.
"He scored some very important goals for us and was very popular with the players and the fans, so we'll keep an eye on his progress and I have no doubt that he will go on to fulfil his potential at a higher level."
