Kettering have confirmed defender Ashley Westwood as their stand-in player-caretaker manager.

The financially struggling Poppies were looking for someone to take charge after interim boss Mark Cooper said he would not manage the team until the players were paid.

Westwood, 35, played for Kettering last season and left Northampton in December after 20 games.

He is ineligible to face Wrexham on Saturday but will manage the team.

Players Sol Davis and David Bridges took charge of training on Thursday.
