Queen of the South have signed Sam Parkin until the end of the season following the 30-year-old striker's release from St Johnstone.

The former Swindon and Luton forward broke his ankle in February last year and failed to win his place back.

"I can't wait to get started," Parkin told the club website. "I liked what the manager had to say."

Doonhamers boss Gus McPherson added: "Sam will be a good addition as he has a good physical presence."

Parkin scored five goals in 26 appearances for the Saints and will go straight into McPherson's squad for Saturday's First Division game with Morton.
