Wolves have signed Tottenham defender Sebastien Bassong on loan until the end of the season.

The centre-back, 25, has made 44 appearances for Spurs since joining the club in 2009 but has found first team opportunities limited this season.

The Cameroon international was close to signing for QPR last season but the deal fell through after Spurs failed to sign Bolton's Gary Cahill.

Bassong will now join Wolves for the final 15 games of the season.

The 25-year-old began his career with FC Metz before signing for Newcastle in the summer of 2008.

Following the Magpies' relegation to the Championship Bassong moved to Spurs the following season and scored on his debut against Liverpool.

He also scored Tottenham's first ever Champions League goal in the 3-2 defeat by Young Boys, external in August 2010.
