Everton striker Victor Anichebe says loanee Steven Pienaar will help the Blues improve their style of play.

Pienaar, 29, returned to Goodison on loan from Tottenham last week and started Saturday's 1-1 draw with Wigan.

Anichebe told BBC Radio Merseyside, external: "He makes the team play a bit better and he's always available for the ball.

"I don't think he gave the ball away ever. I'm so happy to have him back, he's a big player for us and hopefully he can keep us playing well."

Everton's draw at Wigan leaves David Moyes' side 11th in the Premier League, but after scoring the Blues' equaliser at the DW Stadium at the weekend, Anichebe says the players must take heart from their resilience.

"We were there as a team to dig ourselves out of [trouble] and credit that we got a result at Wigan," added the Nigeria international.

"Hopefully we can just keep going to the end of the season and pick up as many points as we can."
