Jonathan Forte's late strike saw Notts County beat Chesterfield.
The home side dominated the first half with Lee Hughes firing over the bar whilst Alan Judge's low drive was saved by Tommy Lee.
Neil Trotman's error saw the ball fall to on-loan striker Forte, who calmly slotted his shot into the corner to put the Magpies ahead.
Alan Judge almost added a second but saw his shot come off the underside off the crossbar.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Notts County manager Keith Curle told BBC Radio Nottingham:
"It was a big effort today from the players. It's been an emotional week for them and I had a feeling that was going to take an effect.
"There were some fresh faces that came in as well. They had the same remit as the other lads, give a good account of yourself, play the game how you think it should be played, and go and express yourself and I think they did that.
"Even though I may not express great enthusiasm, underneath I'm excited. As a manager you can only go by what you have in the changing rooms and I think we have something to build on."
Chesterfield manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Sheffield:
"I thought that the second-half performance was really good. We've had some good chances in the second half.
"I made a lot of changes, because of injuries we had and tried to get a balance to the team.
"We didn't really get going first half, but second half I thought we were excellent, we took the game to them and we've had one or two really good chances.
"Unfortunately we've come out with nothing from the game now. The goal is very disappointing on our part. I thought we defended really well and then the goal was very weak."
