Crewe Alexandra have signed left-back Jordan Brown on a one-month contract.
Brown, 20, who spent time on loan at Aldershot earlier this season, has been on trial at the League Two club after being released by West Ham United.
He told BBC Radio Stoke: "Hopefully I can come in and play some football and try and get my fitness back."
"I just need to do the right things in training. It hasn't taken too long to settle in at the club, I've already settled in to the area."
Brown had been at Upton Park since the age of seven but was released in January after being told there was no future for him at the club.
He explained: "I was there a long time and learned a lot from being there because I've worked with some good managers which will hopefully help me in the future.
"Everybody wants to play at the highest level but West Ham told me that there would be nothing there for me next season, so I now need to start playing some games."
Brown, a cousin of Sunderland player Kieran Richardson, will be available for Crewe's derby match against Port Vale on Tuesday.
