Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law says it was crucial his side continued their sensational form with victory over Braintree because of a tricky run in.
The Reds won 2-1 on Saturday - their sixth win in seven - and are 10 points clear of the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone with five games left.
But Alfreton still have to face high-flying Luton, York and Wrexham.
"We don't want to be looking over our shoulders. It was important we won," Law told BBC Radio Derby., external
"It was a great result. They are a resolute, strong side and we had to up our game in the second half. That was about the worst pitch I have seen all season.
"We had to knock the ball in behind them, play the conditions and it was unsightly. But that is what you have to do on pitches like that."
