Nicky Forster's Dover are five points off the play offs

Dover Athletic boss Nicky Forster says he is unsure why his side's home form does not match their away form.

The 2-0 loss to Sutton United was their fourth straight home defeat and leaves them five points off the Blue Square Bet South play-off places with three games to go.

Forster told BBC Radio Kent: "At home we haven't put the performances in.

"We have been fantastic on the road and the disappointment is the fans can't come in numbers to see that."

Dover have not lost a league game on the road in 2012 while at home they have lost five of their last six.

"We'll have a look at that, there must be something that's not quite right," said Forster.

"I don't know if it's expectancy or something the players are apprehensive about, but they shouldn't be."

The defeat means that Dover's play-off hopes are diminishing, as Forster admits.

"We won't give up, it's almost an impossible task but we will keep going till the end.

"But you'd think Chelmsford have done enough to see them safely into fifth," he said.

Dover striker Terry Dixon added: "It's going to be tough, it's a long-shot.

"We haven't got a different mentality away, I can't understand it. When teams come here they sit back and we find them hard to break them down.

"At home we just haven't done it but away we've been good. Everyone plays with passion but sometimes it's not enough."
