Andy Scott didn't like me - Rotherham's Ryan Cresswell

Rotherham defender Ryan Cresswell says his career faltered under former boss Andy Scott because he did not like him.

The 24-year-old fell out of favour under Scott, who was sacked in March, but has been restored to the starting XI by caretaker Darren Patterson and new full-time boss Steve Evans.

He told BBC Radio Sheffield: "The old manager didn't like the fact that I had such an involvement with the club.

"He didn't like that I had a lot of say and that I was opinionated."

Cresswell added: "I didn't like what he said and he knew that and that cost me games this season."

Evans singled out the former Sheffield United trainee as 'a leader amongst men' upon taking over at the Millers last week.

"It's fantastic to have your manager saying things like that and hopefully he can help me improve as a player and help us get promotion," Cresswell continued.

"The opposition fans might not like him but that can only help us. We're not here to make friends, we're here to win leagues and be a success."
