Bournemouth midfielder Wes Fogden has been ruled out for up to six months because of a shoulder injury.
Fogden, 24, suffered the injury in training a fortnight ago and will now have an operation on it next week.
"Wes fell awkwardly in training on his left shoulder and the scan revealed damage to the socket, " Bournemouth physio Steve Hard told BBC Solent.
Meanwhile, Hard says strike duo Matt Tubbs and Charlie Sheringham will both be fit for pre-season training.
Tubbs had a groin operation in April while Sheringham broke his foot before Christmas.
