Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox signs new two-year deal

Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox has signed a new two-year contract.

The 40-year-old was appointed last summer and guided the Stags to the Blue Square Bet Premier play-offs in his first season in charge.

Cox, who agreed the deal last month, said: "I am delighted. I know it has taken some time but there was never any doubt in my mind that it would happen.

"I have enjoyed my time working with the chairman and I hope our fruitful working relationship can continue."

He added: "The hard work now begins to build on the strong foundations which we laid last season."

Chairman John Radford said: "Paul's record with us is very good and I am pleased that he has committed his future to us for the next two seasons.

"There were a number of clubs in higher leagues who were chasing Paul, but I have a good working relationship with him.

"I am an ambitious chairman and Paul knows I want us to be champions next season. I want to make sure that Paul has the tools to be able to achieve that goal."

The former Eastwood Town manager had previously been linked with the vacant manager's job at Burton Albion.
