Stephen Pearson signs new Bristol City contract

Stephen Pearson has signed a new two-year contract with Bristol City.

Midfielder Pearson arrived at Ashton Gate on loan from Derby County in November before signing a permanent short-term deal two months later.

The 29-year-old Scotsman made 29 appearances for the Championship outfit, scoring three goals.

"I'm delighted to sign the contract. I had a really good six-month spell here and I'm looking forward to the season ahead," Pearson told BBC Points West.

"I had a few other options but I really enjoyed working for the manager and the club. It's a good city and there's a really good bunch of lads so this club ticked all the right boxes."

Manager Derek McInnes added: "He had other offers but he loves playing for the club and we enjoy working with him.

"Sometimes you can get ahead of other teams when you've had the benefit of working with them, so I was always confident of getting it done."
