Chris Zebroski wants striker role at Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham's Chris Zebroski hopes he can secure a role playing as a striker.

The 25-year-old joined from Bristol Rovers for an undisclosed fee this summer where he was used in a number of roles, including winger.

"My best position is up front and that's where I'm more of a goal threat," he told BBC Gloucestershire.

"The gaffer has already said he doesn't know who is going to be starting on Saturday and that's a good thing, so I'm going to be looking to impress."

Zebroski started his career at non-league Cirencester Town before joining Plymouth and then Millwall.

He was sent out on loan to Torquay and Oxford during his time at the Den and eventually left to join Wycombe, who paid £20,000 for him.

Zebroski re-joined the Gulls for a second loan spell in November 2009 and made his switch permanent three months later, becoming their top-scorer the following season with 15 goals.

He netted just five times last year at Rovers and believes a change of scenery is what he needed at this stage of his development.

"I think it was time to move on and I want to get my head down and start playing for Cheltenham," he added.

"I feel it's a good place for me at this time in my career as I need to be playing games and scoring.

"I'm not going to say we're going to win the league but we've got a good bunch of lads here, a lot of ability, good team spirit and I think we've got a very good season ahead of us."
