Aldershot manager Dean Holdsworth says he wants his side to compete for a position in the League Two play-offs this season.

The Shots finished 11th in League Two last year, six points from a play-off place, and Holdsworth has strengthened the squad over the summer.

Boss Holdsworth told BBC Surrey: "Our aim is, first and foremost, staying in the division.

"However, we want to still try and be pushing into those play-off positions."

He continued: "We've got a lot of options, I'm pleased with it. We are trying to build for the future and be as healthy as we can off the pitch."

The Shots will begin their league campaign away at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday, 18 August.
