Caretaker manager Peter Shirtliff's first league match in charge of Bury ended in a 0-0 draw with Brentford.
Shirtliff took over after Richie Barker departed to Crawley, but the Bees looked liveliest as Sam Saunders headed wide in the first half.
Adam Forshaw was also denied by Shakers goalkeeper Trevor Carson, while Clayton Donaldson should have won it at the death but fired wide.
Steve Schumacher's deflected shot was the closest Bury came to a winner.
