Michael O'Neill happy at Northern Ireland display against Finland

Northern Ireland boss Michael O'Neill was pleased with his team's display in the 3-3 draw against Finland.

"We started well with two good goals and I was obviously disappointed to lose that lead," said O'Neill.

"In the second half we had to dig in and despite being careless at times we created opportunities and deserved to get the equaliser.

"I'm pleased with the performance and the young players I introduced near the end did very well."

Martin Patterson levelled from a penalty with six minutes left to rescue a draw for the hosts.

O'Neill is still looking for a first win as Northern Ireland manager but at least he saw his team score for the first time in his three games.

The friendly provided a good test before the World Cup qualifiers, which start on 7 September against Russia in Moscow.

O'Neill was delighted with the late cameos from his younger players and said he would consider them for the daunting opener against Russia.

"Oliver Norwood came on with about 10 minutes left and looked very accomplished in possession and played some good forward passes," added O'Neill.

"Josh Carson also came on and played well - he has quality and enthusiasm.

"We will see what happens regarding the Russia game but all the younger players are in contention."
