Mansfield 1-0 Hyde

  • Published

Matt Green's early goal proved decisive as Mansfield overcame Hyde to record their second successive win.

Green opened the scoring after finding space in the area and driving the ball home left-footed for 1-0.

Hyde's Scott Spencer had his shot blocked by Town full-back Colin Daniel, while Green nearly had a second when keeper Ashley Frith fumbled his strike.

Matthew Blinkhorn almost ensured a share of the points but he put Adam Griffin's cross wide from an angle.

Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox told BBC Radio Nottingham:

Cox 'positive' after clean sheet

"I thought the first half maybe could have been out of sight with some of the chances we created.

"You've got to give credit to Hyde - they're a good side and made us work extremely hard defensively second half. It was a proper football match.

"In this league there's no-one who's got a divine right to go and walk away with a result and Hyde proved that today."
