Lincoln City 1-2 Alfreton Town

Darran Kempson scored a late header as Alfreton Town overturned a half-time deficit to beat fellow early-season strugglers Lincoln City and climb out of the Blue Square Bet bottom four.

The Imps led when Nicky Nicalau's free-kick eluded everyone and drifted in.

But the Reds improved after half-time and Anthony Wilson's close-range shot made it 1-1 from Nathan Arnold's pass.

Kempson headed the winner over keeper Paul Farman as he raced from his goal to earn a second away win this season.

The victory sees the Reds leapfrog Lincoln, who have now lost four of their seven league games this season.

Lincoln city manager David Holdsworth told BBC Radio Lincolnshire:

"It's been extremely difficult in the last two weeks to field a side of fit players but I felt we approached it in a positive manner and were certainly encouraged by our start and the first-half display.

"We've lost something like eight players and I don't think we've got a squad that can cope with that but what I can't do is criticise the boys for their effort and integrity, they had a really good go against a physical side.

"We were in command and had two or three chances where we should have put the game to bed and those were telling moments.

"Nobody likes defeat but the boys didn't give up until the final whistle and that's commendable. Injuries cost us massively because we were in command and it let Alfreton back into the game."
