Southport 2-1 Gateshead

Karl Ledsham's late strike earned Southport their first home win of the Blue Square Bet Premier season at the expense of Gateshead.

After a poor first half bereft of chances, Shaun Whalley put the hosts ahead with 20 minutes to go when he fired past Adam Bartlett from 12 yards.

Josh Gillies levelled the scores shortly afterwards with a left-footed effort from near the penalty spot.

But Ledsham sealed the points with a superb volley three minutes from time.
