Northern Ireland Under-21s went down 3-1 to Macedonia in Friday night's Uefa Euro 2013 qualifier game at the Oval.

Stephen Robinson's side took an early lead thanks to a goal by Josh Magennis in the 10th minute.

Stefan Spirovski levelled three minutes after the break and further goals by Filip Timov on 72 and Aleksandar Stankov on 90 secured an away victory.

Conor McLaughlin was sent-off for a second bookable offence in the final minute of the game.

Northern Ireland's hopes of qualifying for the finals had already ended as they have four points from seven games.

Northern Ireland had lost 1-0 to Macedonia in the first fixture between the sides in Skopje in May after conceding a late penalty.

The Northern Irish team will complete their campaign with a match in Denmark on Monday.
