Northampton 0-0 Chesterfield

Chesterfield extended their unbeaten league run to seven games thanks to a goalless draw at Northampton.

Luke Guttridge fired over when well placed for the Cobblers, while Craig Westcarr's shot was saved by Lee Nicholls at the other end.

Sam Togwell and Sam Hird should have done better in front of goal for the Spireites, and Jack Lester hit the bar.

Alex Nicholls came close for the hosts, but was denied by Richard O'Donnell as the match petered out.

Northampton manager tells BBC Radio Northampton:

"I don't think we created as much as we normally do and so it was probably a fair result.

"That's a team thing [another clean sheet] from the front to the back and it helps having a good young goalkeeper.

"We didn't really get firing on all cylinders. We could have been a bit more incisive but that's all part of our learning."

Chesterfield caretaker manager Tommy Wright tells BBC Radio Sheffield:

Wright delighted with Spireites

"I'm delighted with the performance. It's a tough place to come, similar to Gillingham.

"(Against) set plays I thought the back four were tremendous.

"I thought young Richard O'Donnell in goal was tremendous after a difficult on Tuesday - he responded the way we wanted."

"I think it was a good clean sheet and probably a fair result, but I thought we had the better chances."
