Alfreton Town 1-1 Braintree Town

  • Published

It was a tale of two penalties as Alfreton and Braintree both netted from the spot to earn a 1-1 draw.

Alfreton edged the first period, efforts from Josh Law and Simon Russell the closest they came to opening the scoring at the Impact Arena.

Dan Bradley put the hosts ahead, his fourth goal in four games, following Matthew Paine's foul on Anthony Wilson.

But Theo Streete was tripped by Sean Marks, allowing Braintree's Kenny Davis to level with a powerful spot-kick.

We should have won - Devonshire

Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:

"We're very disappointed in there, because I felt we were the only team that was looking to win the game in the last 20 minutes.

"(The slope) made it hard (in the first half), I wanted to get in 0-0.

"Second half we showed a lot of character and I think we completely dominated at times.

"We've had lots of balls flash across the six-yard box and it hasn't dropped to us, hopefully next week they'll drop to one of our players."
