Brighton & Hove Albion defender Adam El-Abd has hailed the impact of goalkeeper Tomasz Kuszczak.

Former Manchester United stopper Kuszczak joined the Seagulls on a free transfer this summer and has been an ever-present this season.

El-Abd told BBC Sussex: "He's already shown what top calibre he is. He's made some fantastic stops this season and won us points.

"There's a few saves that have been top drawer. It's great to have him here."

Brighton sit top of the Championship table after seven games of the campaign.

"It feels great and it's a good start for us but we're not getting carried away," centre-back El-Abd, 28, continued.

"We know how strong our squad is and the gaffer [Gus Poyet] has made some great signings. It bodes well for the season."
