Guernsey Priaulx League side Vale Rec are safely into the second round of Jersey's Le Riche Cup after a 3-1 win at First Tower United.

Vale became the first Guernsey side to play in Jersey's showpiece knockout tournament last season, making the quarter-finals.

They went ahead after three minutes but Tower hit back through Matt Swinburne.

Jack Tacon and Glenn Le Tissier netted before half-time to send the Guernsey side through.

Elsewhere in the all-Premiership clash Rozel Rovers grabbed a 1-0 win over Grouville thanks to Ross Philpott's goal.

In the day's other first round match Phil Helleur scored twice for Sporting Academics but they lost 4-2 to St Clement.

Karl Hinds (2), Gary Kelly and Micky Pereira scored the St Clement goals.

Meanwhile in the Wheway Cup, Ben Coulter scored the only goal as Guernsey side St Martin won 1-0 at St Ouen.

St Martin now face Jersey Wanderers in the quarter-finals on 13 October.

In the Jeremie Cup St Paul's thrashed Guernsey Rangers 7-0 to set up a semi-final clash against Grouville.
