Stockport County have signed defender Tom Eckersley on loan from Accrington Stanley for a month.

The former Bolton defender, 20, has played three times since moving to the Crown Ground in July.

"Stockport are a fantastic club and it's a really good place for Tom to go," said Stanley boss Paul Cook, who had a spell with County as a player.

"He's a young lad who needs to play football. He's got great qualities. We feel he's got a future at this club."

Cook told the club website:, external "We don't send players out because we don't like them or we've fallen out with them - we send them out to get experience.

"Tom Eckersley is going to be a good footballer and a really good player for Accrington Stanley. Him getting some vital Conference experience will do us all the world of good."

Stockport, who are 14th in the Blue Square Bet Premier, travel to Hereford on Saturday.
