Adebayo Akinfenwa's goal gained Northampton a point at York, despite playing much of the game with 10 men.
Matty Blair opened the scoring for the Minstermen, flicking the ball past defender John Johnson before finishing.
Louis Moult was then shown a straight red card for a reckless foul on York centre-back Chris Smith.
Akinfenwa equalised, tapping in from close range after York keeper Michael Ingham spilled Chris Hackett's free-kick, to take a share of the points.

York City manager Gary Mills told BBC Radio York:
We've got to be ruthless - Mills
"I thought we started the second half poorly and we gave them a lift.
"We were sloppy and they got the goal and gave them another lift.
"We came out in the second half and didn't get going.
"We're not the first team to lose against 10 men and we've got ourselves another point.
"It's important we come out here Saturday, capitalise on our six games without a defeat and turn the seventh into three points."
Northampton Town manager Aidy Boothroyd tells BBC Radio Northampton:

"You've got to have spirit and that was a wonderful second half performance. We were the better team and we had the better chances in the second half. It was one my favourite performances as manager.
"There were two outstanding performances amongst a lot of really good performances - Chris Hackett and Lewis Hornby were fantastic.
"Very early on in the season I had a word with Lewis and I told him I didn't think he'd be good enough unless he did things differently - and he responded.
"Louis Moult had done very well but it was frustration that he didn't get the free-kick, he's caught Smith and he deserved to go."
