Oxford United: James Constable form helped by DVD

Oxford United striker James Constable believes a DVD of his past goals is helping him rediscover his best form.

The U's management organised a compilation of his best moments to be collated in an attempt to help him overcome a dry spell in front of goal.

And having netted for the first time in the league last weekend, the 28-year-old feels it has helped.

"As a player it's nice to score but you do forget them so it's good to look back," Constable told BBC Oxford.

The U's travel to Barnet in the first round of the FA Cup this weekend, and Constable, who scored 11 goals last season, hopes he can add to the league goal he scored at Wycombe last weekend as well as the Johnstone's Paint Trophy goal against Cheltenham in October.

Constable is United's fifth top scorer of all time, with 82 strikes, and has been his team's top scorer in each of his four seasons at the Kassam Stadium.

However, until his goal against the Robins, he had not scored in 21 games going back eight months.

"It sounds a silly one to say but it can make a difference," he added.

"Having watched the DVD four or five times since I got it you realise and remember how you scored the goals and what you used to do and things like that.

"I've got into a routine of watching it in the morning of a game and hopefully I can get a few more goals this season.

"I nip off to study and reminisce about the goals I've scored. As a player it's nice to score but you do forget them so it's good to look back."
