Keith Hill will not walk out on Barnsley

Barnsley manager Keith Hill says he will not quit his job despite the club's poor run of form.

The Tykes have lost four of their last six matches, leaving them 20th in the Championship table.

Hill told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I will fight for what I believe in and I believe in the players and what we are trying to do.

"There's absolutely no chance that I'll walk out on this club because I feel we're ahead of where we should be."

He continued: "You have to ask yourself: 'would results change if the players changed or if I left?' Well, not unless there was a huge cash injection.

"I have the support of the chairman. He is aware of the current situation and I'm not worried about being sacked at all.

"Our aim for this season is to get 50 points and that achievement would be like walking a tightrope with two broken legs."

Hill led the Tykes to 21st in the Championship last season, as they avoided relegation by eight points.

The former Rochdale manager thinks there needs to be more a more positive attitude around the club after recent criticism.

"We need to promote positivity at this club because out of that you get encouragement and belief," he added.

"We have to break this pessimism and that's from everyone; local press, fans and players. Everyone seems to be looking for a negative angle."

Barnsley travel to Derby on Tuesday looking for a third away win of the season.
