Shrewsbury have re-signed Portsmouth striker Luke Rodgers on loan until January, when the move will become permanent until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, who only joined Pompey in August, has not started a league game since September.

He began his career at Shrewsbury and scored 73 goals in 204 appearances before leaving for Crewe in 2005.

Rodgers has also played for Port Vale, Yeovil, Notts County, New York Red Bulls and Lillestrom.

He made his Pompey debut in the 1-1 home draw with Bournemouth on the opening day of the League One season and has scored three goals in 13 games.

Meanwhile, Town have allowed on-loan defender Michael Hector, who is contracted to remain at the Meadow until January, to return to Reading to train with his parent club.
