Colchester 2-0 Bury

Quickfire goals from Anthony Wordsworth and Freddie Sears helped Colchester return to winning ways against Bury.

Visiting goalkeeper Trevor Carson maintained parity with first-half saves from Craig Eastmond and Ian Henderson.

However, United took the lead when Wordsworth headed Jabo Ibehre's cross home, before Sears finished from 12 yards after more good work by Ibehre.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell hit the bar for Bury, but John Sullivan's clean-sheet remained intact.

Dunne pleased with "patient" U's

"I thought it was well deserved, we were the better team.

"I felt that the group of players over the six weeks have done very well. In the team selection, I put my trust in them [despite three consecutive defeats], and they certainly came through.

"I thought in the first half we were patient, we moved the ball well and we had opportunities.

"In the second half, the patience paid off and we got two great goals. I'm really pleased."
