BBC to show European Women's Championship football games

The BBC is to broadcast all of England's Uefa European Women's Championship games when the team heads to Sweden in July.

The deal will see live coverage of all England's matches, both semi-finals and the final shown across BBC Two and BBC Three.

In addition, all other peak-time matches will be broadcast on BBC Three.

Hope Powell's team lost 6-2 to seven-time winners Germany in the final, external four years ago.

They secured their place at next year's tournament thanks to a 3-0 win over Croatia in September and will face France, Russia and Spain in the group stages.

BBC Director of Sport Barbara Slater said: "We're delighted to be adding the UEFA European Women's Championship to our portfolio of women's sport.

"The response to women's football at London 2012 showed that there is a strong appetite for it.

"We we look forward to bringing our audiences the excitement and drama of another major tournament."

Euro 2013 takes place from 10-28 July 2013, with the top two from each of the three groups, external progressing to the knockout stages along with the two best third-placed sides.

England fixtures:

July 12: England v Spain

July 15: England v Russia

July 18: England v France
