Oldham Athletic battled back from 2-0 down to end a four-game losing run and hold Scunthorpe United to a draw.

Niall Canavan scrambled the Iron's opener home from close range and Mark Duffy rifled home a second after a mazy run from the left.

Former Scunthorpe captain Cliff Byrne pulled one back from close range before Jose Baxter levelled with a penalty.

Oldham ended with 10 men when James Wesolowski was sent off for his challenge on Damien Mozika.

Laws laments 'opportunity lost'

Scunthorpe United boss Brian Laws told BBC Radio Humberside:

"It is most definitely an opportunity lost; you know we've lost two points there, we should have won the game.

"When you get yourself in a position as we did, you're in the driving seat. The key is always making sure you get in at half-time and you don't concede a goal.

"There's a few things there that you look at and think 'hang on a minute referee, you need to have a look at those issues'."

Oldham manager Paul Dickov told BBC Radio Manchester:

"It's a fantastic battling point, when you take into consideration that we were going into it on the back of four defeats and we went 2-0 down early doors.

"At 2-2, with 11 against 11, we were playing some fantastic stuff and there was only one team that was going to win it.

"The character, the desire and the football quality in our team was shown today. It was a great performance."
