Ebbsfleet boss Liam Daish suggests new faces are needed

Ebbsfleet United manager Liam Daish has hinted he will look to different players to get them out of the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation zone.

The Fleet slipped to 23rd and three points from safety after a 3-1 loss at Dartford, their third straight defeat.

"I know they're working hard but there's a bit of naivety there," Daish told BBC Radio Kent.

"It needs to be addressed and it probably needs to be addressed with different personnel."

Whether Daish receives funds to be able to strengthen his squad remains to be seen, with the club's future ownership and funding still uncertain.

Ebbsfleet's playing squad remains threadbare after the contract of defender Patrick Ada was terminated following his imprisonment and striker Matt Godden was recalled from his loan spell by Scunthorpe.

"I'm trying all the time," Daish said. "I'd like Matt back. I was disappointed when he went.

"I need a centre-half, maybe a couple of defenders that take on what people say and are more defensively minded."

The Fleet have also been hit by injuries to strikers Nathan Elder and Moses Ashikodi in recent weeks.

Elder did make his competitive return in the Boxing Day defeat but Daish did not expect him to hit the ground running.

"You're hoping that Nathan is going to come in and everyone's thinking he'll be back to where he was," he said.

"You could see Nathan was a little off the pace.

"He's a big lad and bigger lads need a little more game time before they start getting back to where they were."
