Barrow chairman Brian Keen say embargo will be lifted

Barrow chairman Brian Keen says their transfer embargo will be lifted as they are set to pay an outstanding tax bill.

The Blue Square Bet Premier side had to postpone the confirmation of Danny O'Donnell's move from Stockport County after the embargo was confirmed by Keen on Saturday.

"Yes there is a National Insurance bill, but that has been handled," Keen told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"There's nothing to worry about on the finances of the club."

He added: "The player who was due to sign for us [O'Donnell], that's still very much on and as far as I'm concerned everything is OK on that front."

Keen is confident the Holker Street club can fulfil their financial commitments and gave mitigating circumstances for the delay in paying the sums owed for National Insurance.

"Everybody had been paid, the players, but things were tight," Keen said.

"Things are tight, one small NI bill that has been up to date has slipped and a cheque should have gone on Thursday or Friday.

"But it will go today, with money that we were owed in [the coffers] that is substantial and we can clear one or two other things up this week."
