Swindon Town striker Paul Benson will not be joining League Two side Cheltenham Town.

Cheltenham manager Mark Yates confirmed the news to BBC Gloucestershire on Thursday, saying: "He's not coming".

The 33-year-old is under contract at the County Ground until 2014 but has fallen out of favour with manager Paolo Di Canio this season.

Benson, who has spent the last two months on loan at Portsmouth, has rejected a permanent move to Bradford.

Swindon manager Di Canio confirmed last week that he had blocked Benson's loan extension at cash-strapped Pompey, who are not able to match Town's valuation of the former Dagenham forward.
