Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez delighted with away form

Chelsea manager Rafael Benitez says the difference between his side's home and away form is not related to the hostile atmosphere he faces at Stamford Bridge.

Their 4-0 win at Stoke was the Blues' sixth-straight domestic victory on the road, while they have won only one home Premier League game under Benitez.

"The question is the approach of the other teams," he said.

"When we are away, they press high and you have more space. At home, they play deep and you cannot find the space."

Benitez, whose side have lost their last two home games - in the Premier League against QPR and in the Capital One Cup against Swansea - is booed at home games by many fans who were unhappy about him being appointed interim appointment in November.

But the former Liverpool manager insists that his treatment does not affect his players.

"You have to realise the team is doing well," he added. "The players are happy and training well.

"They try to perform, all the staff are doing a great job and the atmosphere inside is really good.

"At the games we cannot control what is going on outside the pitch but we do our best on the pitch."

Chelsea's 8-0 victory over Aston Villa on Boxing Day remains Benitez's only domestic home success in five attempts.

Away from home, he has won every domestic game since a defeat by West Ham in the league on 1 December.

"We are doing well away and I think we have also deserved to win at home, but football is football," Benitez explained.

"It is a different kind of game at home and we have to manage the situation in a different way, but we are still creating chances.

"Hopefully we will do the same in our next home game. If we do, then it will be totally different."
