Grimsby 2-0 Hyde

Grimsby Town returned to the top of the Blue Square Bet Premier as two late goals from Andy Cook helped them to victory over Hyde.

The visitors had begun much the stronger, with Phil Jevons and Scott Spencer forcing Mariners keeper Greg Fleming into fine saves.

But Cook stepped off the hosts' bench to convert Jamie Devitt's cross six minutes from time.

And he added his second with a strike from the edge of the box late on.

We still need to improve - Scott

"It was hard work first-half - it was hard work to watch and I think the fans were getting as frustrated as we were. Certainly I was, because that was a long way off where we could play.

"There's plenty of things that have been highlighted tonight that we need to improve on but I think you have to take things into consideration, and that is that we haven't played for 10 days and haven't trained properly on a proper pitch for 6 days now.

"Taking into account everything all right it wasn't the best performance in the world but good teams and teams that are chasing promotion can grind out results.
