Aberdeen's Joe Shaughnessy wins December young player award

Aberdeen's Joe Shaughnessy has won the Clydesdale Bank Premier League young player of the month award for December.

The 20-year-old defender from Galway made seven appearances for the Dons last month, scoring in the Scottish Cup replay win against Motherwell.

Shaughnessy recently extended his contract to keep him at Pittodrie until the summer of 2015.

Having joined Aberdeen in 2009, he made his debut in 2011 before spending time on loan at Forfar last season.
