Leyton Orient 'courage' impresses manager Russell Slade

Leyton Orient manager Russell Slade has hailed the attitude of his players following their FA Cup exit.

The O's were beaten by Hull City in their third round relay on Tuesday, losing 2-1 after extra time.

Slade told BBC London 94.9: "We did more than enough over the two games to get a result.

"They showed so much courage and they dug so deep for the football club. It was unreal on the back of the games we have had so far."

Orient took the Championship side to extra-time after winger Dean Cox struck late on to cancel out Nick Proschwitz's opener.

However, the O's lost what was their ninth cup match of the season after Tom Cairney found the net with just three minutes of added time remaining.

"I thought we acquitted ourselves excellently and took the game to them from the first minute," said Slade.

"It wasn't easy to take as it looked like it was going to penalties - that is the very least we deserved."

The League One side had efforts from Dave Mooney and Lee Cook ruled out for offside.

"The first was offside, but the second one was two yards onside," Slade continued.

"That just frustrates me even more.

"You want the officials to get it right on the night. It is a massive game for the football club and someone is not doing his job."

Slade was unimpressed with the reaction of a section of the Brisbane Road crowd when he brought on forward Michael Symes as a substitute on the hour mark.

"I was a bit limited with what I could bring on and they were jeering him before he came on. What's that all about?

"Don't get me wrong, the majority of fans were absolutely unreal.

"But you always get a few, where we are trying to win a cup tie, and they want to do is jeer someone who is coming on.

"They might as well stay at home."
