Newcastle close to signing Massadio Haidara from Nancy

Newcastle have agreed a fee to sign defender Massadio Haidara from Nancy, according to the French side.

The 20-year-old left-back is to have a medical at the St James' Park club before completing the move.

"After 46 games and two-and-a-half years in the Nancy shirt, Massadio Haidara is leaving for Newcastle," said a statement on the Nancy website.

"The two clubs have reached an agreement and will finalise the transfer on Tuesday."

Nancy are currently bottom of Ligue 1 and Haidara has made 17 league appearances for them this season.

The player has also represented France at Under-20 and Under-21 level.
