Truro City rue goalkeeping errors after losing to Dover

Truro City manager Lee Hodges was left to rue conceding three first-half goals as his side went down 3-2 at Dover.

Former Bideford keeper Paul Hider, who made his debut after Luke McCormick moved to Oxford United, made a number of errors as City suffered their seventh defeat in nine games.

"It was individual errors by our goalkeeper that put us in that situation," Hodges told BBC Cornwall.

"I feel sorry for the lad as he had one of those games," Hodges added.

Tyrone Sterling, Ian Simpempa and Calum Willock were all on target for Dover in the first 45 minutes, but Cody Cooke and Kieffer Moore pulled goals back for bottom-of-the-table City after the break.

And Hodges was also impressed with the way Hider bounced back with a far more confident performance in the second half.

"In the first half he cost us a couple of goals, but in the second half he kept us in the game and made a couple of fantastic saves.

"If he'd have done that in the first half as well, we'd have probably won the game," the Truro boss said.

"We spoke at half time of getting some pride and belief in ourselves and holding our heads out high and competing.

"We did that and the positive you can take from it is that we won 2-0 in the second half, but once again how we got nothing out of the game I don't know.

"The way things are going at the moment, lady luck isn't on our side."
