Shrewsbury 2-1 Stevenage

Shrewsbury Town significantly improved their chances of League One survival with a late winner against Stevenage.

James Dunne volleyed the visitors ahead on 20 minutes after controlling the ball on his chest, but that sparked Town into equalising 11 minutes later.

Paul Parry fired home Chris Day's cross before on-loan striker Chris Porter headed over from close range.

Town's 86th-minute winner was fashioned by their two substitutes, Jon Taylor crossing for Marvin Morgan to finish.

The home side moved eight points clear of the drop zone, although they have played a game more than fourth-from-bottom Colchester.

Shrewsbury Town manager Graham Turner told BBC Shropshire:

"We lived dangerously to get the three points, but it's a bit brighter looking in the table, It lifts the pressure from us and we turn our attention to Doncaster in midweek, having won our last two games and with great confidence being underdogs."

"In the first half we were poor, but we went a goal down and picked up and started to play.

"Paul Parry is a great threat and it was an excellent finish - we tried to change things around and it worked out for us."

Stevenage manager Gary Smith told BBC Three Counties Radio:

"It wasn't an easy surface for either team to play on, but I actually thought both teams played some really decent football.

"To take the lead and lose the game again is heartbreaking. When things are not going your way you're just not getting the breaks.

"It's very, very disappointing and frustrating. We're not getting what we deserve at the moment."
