Alfreton Town 5-1 Hyde

  • Published

Ben Tomlinson scored a hat-trick for Alfreton Town as they swept aside Hyde to ease their relegation fears.

The former Macclesfield striker found the net twice inside 15 minutes, firing in from the edge of the box and then pouncing on a loose ball from a corner.

He converted a penalty to claim the match ball after David Carnell had fouled Paul Clayton in the area.

Clayton tapped in a fourth and Danny Broadbent scored a consolation before Scott Boden drilled in Town's fifth.

Broadbent, who helped the Tigers to the Blue Square Bet North title last season, was making his first appearance since returning to Hyde following a short spell with minnows Mossley.
