Plymouth Argyle moved out of the League Two relegation places with victory over Fleetwood Town.

Paul Wotton put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot after Jon Parkin fouled Conor Hourihane and Jason Banton made it 2-0 with a low 20-yard shot.

Argyle keeper Jake Cole made a reflex save to keep out Junior Brown, before David Ball reduced the deficit with an angled left-foot volley.

Fleetwood had Paul McKenna sent off for a second yellow in the 85th minute.

Plymouth made it hard - Sheridan

"We worked our socks off - they're a good team and they're on a good run.

"The only disappointing thing I would say is when you're winning the game 2-0, we shouldn't have made it as hard as we did.

"I think I can get more out of Jason Banton - I'm going to keep on his case. If he wants to be a good player he's got to be non-stop all game, not do silly things and give cheap balls away. If he can do that he'll play at a higher level.

"It's going to be tight, we've got two tough away games now. I've told them at the end of the day I just want to be in this division. We know what's round the corner if we don't work hard and prepare properly."
