Stockport 1-3 Braintree Town
- Published
Kenny Davis's double helped Braintree ease past struggling Stockport for their fourth successive win.
After a goalless first half, Dan Holman put the Iron ahead when he broke through the defence to slot home.
Davis soon made it 2-0 when he chipped over the keeper, before converting from the penalty sport for his second after Lee Bullock fouled Dean Wells.
Alex Kenyon headed in a late consolation for County, who have now lost their last four home games.
The result means Stockport now lie just three points clear of the Blue Square Bet Premier relegation places.
VIEWS FROM THE DRESSING ROOM
Braintree Town manager Alan Devonshire told BBC Essex:
"We've played really well. First half I felt we should have gone two up, but we were in at half-time still 0-0.
"I just said to them 'be patient, carry on and the goals will come'. In 15 minutes we've scored three goals, terrific.
"I thought we got a bit tired in the last 10 minutes, (because of) not playing for a couple of weeks, but what a great result.
"We're a decent side when we're on it, it's been proved in the last four games. I'm very proud of them."
