Crusaders beat Coleraine 3-1 at the Showgrounds in the Irish Premiership

Eamon McAllister scored two superb goals as second-placed Crusaders picked up maximum points at Coleraine.

The former Donegal Celtic midfielder netted a fine first-time volley in the fourth minute to put the Crues ahead.

Coleraine striker Curtis Allen headed the home side level from David Scullion's cross on 27 minutes.

Crues striker Timmy Adamson bravely headed the Belfast side into a 2-1 lead in the second half with McAllister getting the third with a superb strike.

That last goal came after a Crues break with Paul Heatley laying the ball off for McAllister who gave Bannsiders keeper Michael Doherty little chance.

It was another disappointing display by Coleraine who have hit a shaky spell in recent weeks.

Buoyed by Allen's equaliser, they created the better chances in the early stages of the first half.

Stephen Lowry had a great opportunity but Crues keeper Yohann Lacroix saved well, defender David Ogilby shot wide and Jamie Tomelty's great strike came off the crossbar.

They were made to pay with Adamson forcing over after getting on the end of Josh Robinson's ball back into the danger area.

Then came McAllister's great shot into the top corner for 3-1.

Crusaders stay 14 points behind runaway Premiership leaders Cliftonville who had a 2-1 home win over Donegal Celtic.
