Irish Cup: Crusaders beat Lisburn Distillery in penalty shoot-out

Crusaders beat Lisburn Distillery 4-3 on penalties after their Irish Cup quarter-final replay at New Grosvenor ended 1-1 after extra-time.

Jordan Owens fired the Crues into a 52nd-minute lead but substitute Mikey Withers tapped in the Whites' equaliser from close range after 74 minutes.

Josh Robinson scored the winning penalty after Yohann Lacroix had saved two of the home side's spot-kicks.

Crusaders will now face Cliftonville in the last four at the Oval on 6 April.

Both sides had chances to break the deadlock in the first half but were unable to find the net.

Lee Windrum saved Owens' goalbound header early on and Lacroix then comfortably gathered a Stephen Gordon shot and a Jonny Harkness free-kick.

Windrum proved equal to a Timmy Adamson effort and Declan Caddell missed a straightforward chance with the goal at his mercy.

Lacroix denied Melly before Owens rifled home the opener into the bottom corner.

Withers levelled after meeting Scott Davidson's ball in from the right, but Davidson missed a glorious late chance for his side as he blasted over with just the goalkeeper to beat.

Extra-time produced only one chance worthy of note, with Windrum producing a fine save from Paul Heatley.

In the shoot-out, Davidson and Ryan McCann missed with Distillery's first two penalties, while Chris Morrow and David Rainey made no mistake for the visitors.

Harkness, Michael Halliday and Philip Simpson scored their spot-kicks for the Whites, with Adamson unable to convert for the Crues.

Craig McClean and Robinson were successful with their attempts to set up a north Belfast derby in the semi-finals.
