Plymouth 2-0 Cheltenham

Plymouth claimed their fourth win in five League Two matches, beating promotion-chasing Cheltenham Town.

Argyle went ahead when on-loan Yeovil striker Reuben Reid swooped to score after Joe Bryan's thumping left-foot drive bounced off the post.

Plymouth doubled their lead following a brilliant run by left-back Onismor Bhasera, his driven cross flying off Town's Michael Hector and in.

Reid nearly claimed his second but his side-footed shot hit the woodwork.

The result means Cheltenham stay in fourth and are level on points with Northampton, who occupy the final automatic promotion place.

Plymouth Argyle manager John Sheridan told BBC Radio Devon:

"It's still very tight and we've just got to look after ourselves, again another great result. Very positive and the outcome of the game - we could have scored five or six.

"We had to earn it but I thought we did really well, I thought we matched them in all departments and the chances we created were very pleasing.

"To score two goals and keep a clean sheet is a great result for us.

"We've got two hard away games now and it's important we try and get something from both games and if we do that it gives us that little bit of hope and hopefully we'll stay in the league."

Cheltenham Town manager Mark Yates told BBC Radio Gloucestershire:

"We were well and truly beaten and lucky to get away with 2-0. We didn't cause them any problems but caused ourselves plenty.

"We were hopeless today and everyone was a little bit frustrated but no more than myself. We were abject at best.

"If we perform like that for the next three games then we won't take anything from it. We've just got to make sure that we all understand what happened today.

"We were poor in everything we did. We made bad decisions all over the pitch and we've failed miserably today."
